Tuesday Extreme Weather Brings Snow in Alberta – Record Heat in Ontario

Extreme weather is likely early this week again across Canada. As we lose more and more solar radiation each day the battle between the remnants of summer and approaching cold weather become more pronounced.  This coming Tuesday, Oct.3rd, will see an upper-level trough dig into western North America with a ridge over the east.  This will funnel down colder air into southern Alberta and warm moist air into Ontario.

Temp Anomalies Oct.3

So when folks in southern Alberta wake up Tuesday morning they could be faced with snow on the ground.

When folks in Ontario head to work Tuesday they could be in store for record-breaking warm temperatures.  Many locations in Northeastern Ontario will see daytime highs climb into the mid-20s.

Ontario will see a cool down for the end of the coming week but warmer than normal temperatures return for the Thanksgiving Weekend as the upper-level pattern quickly rebuilds.
